Self-defence for women
Real self-defence, taught properly — in Defence Colony, built on leverage over size and strength, in a room where respect is the rule. Train in our women-only class, or alongside everyone in the regular classes — whichever you are comfortable with. No experience needed, every fitness level welcome. The first class is free.
Women training real jiu-jitsu at Knots & Collar, Defence Colony — leverage over strength, in a room built on respect.

Women-only, or mixed
Start in the women-only class if you’d prefer, or train in the regular classes where women and men train together — both built on respect, not ego.
Leverage over strength
Jiu-jitsu is designed for the person who is smaller. You learn to stay calm, create space, and get back to safety.
Confidence that lasts
Handling a little pressure safely, again and again, is what quietly changes how you carry yourself everywhere.
Kindness over toughness
Self-defence is not about becoming aggressive. It is about becoming capable — knowing that if someone bigger tries to control you, you have practised exactly this, calmly, many times before. That is a quieter kind of confidence, and it is the one that lasts. What to expect, and why to start, and whether BJJ really works for self-defence.
