Kids’ Jiu-Jitsu
These are photographs from our children’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes at Knots & Collar in Defence Colony, New Delhi, India. Children train with us from age three, in small, supervised groups sorted by age and size. Jiu-Jitsu suits children because it rewards patience and problem-solving over aggression: a smaller child learns to stay calm, use position and leverage, and work a puzzle rather than rely on strength. Along the way it builds focus, coordination, fitness and a quiet kind of confidence that shows up off the mat as much as on it. Parents are welcome to watch every session. Grades are earned slowly and honestly — the belt or stripe a child wears is real progress a coach has actually seen, never something bought. Every class is led under a verified De La Riva black-belt lineage by Professor Binish Sukhija, and the room is run on one idea above all others: kindness over toughness, so partners look after one another and every child comes back next time wanting more. These pictures are from ordinary classes — warm-ups, drills, games and gentle supervised rolling — not a staged shoot. If you would like your child to try it, the first class is free. Come and see the room in Defence Colony for yourself.
