No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu
These are photographs from our no-gi classes at Knots & Collar, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu studio in Defence Colony, New Delhi, India. No-gi is jiu-jitsu without the kimono — trained in a rashguard and shorts, with no collar or sleeves to grab. Take the grips away and the game speeds up: it leans on body position, underhooks, wrist control and pace, and it connects naturally to wrestling and to the grappling seen in mixed martial arts. Many members train both gi and no-gi in the same week because each one teaches the other; details you find in the gi carry over, and the reactions you sharpen in no-gi carry back. The classes are mixed — beginners and experienced grapplers on the same mat, always supervised — and led under a verified De La Riva black-belt lineage by Professor Binish Sukhija, so what you are shown is honest coaching you can check. We run no-gi seven days a week, morning and evening, alongside the gi programme. The photographs here are from real sessions, not a staged shoot — the people who actually train at the studio, on ordinary evenings in New Delhi. If it looks like something for you, the first class is on us. Come and see the place, and train the way we train: kindness over toughness.
