Lapel guard
The lapel guard from the beginning: their lapel under your own foot gives the control a spider or lasso guard gives, without needing the sleeve. From there, deep De La Riva, a shape that is half X-guard, and a back take that starts with making them sit.
Survival
Grip low on the exchange
When you switch hands on the lapel, take the new grip as low as possible. Grab high and they hold their own jacket and pull it back.

Transitions
Lapel under your own foot
Pull the lapel out and pass it under your own foot, or take it as a lasso — the same control either way. Lighter is enough.
Deep De La Riva into X-guard
Bridge onto the shoulder to reach, take the far hip with the deep hook, and settle as you shift the grip — De La Riva and X-guard in one shape.
Make them sit, take the back
Knees to the chest, make them sit, and as they sit your head dives under. Let the lapel go, catch the far leg, fall to the side.
Technical get-up off the lapel
Post on the palm, lift the hip, kick the leg back. The lapel keeps their posture broken while you stand.
